Biography
Dr Alistair McConnell completed an MEng in Robotics and Cybertronics and an MSc in Robotics, Autonomous and Interactive Systems with a specialism in Evolutionary and Bioinspired Robotics (distinction) at Heriot-Watt University. He then went on to complete a PhD in Rehabilitation Robotics at Heriot-Watt University as well. After his PhD he began a post-doctoral position at the University of Edinburgh as part of the ORCA Hub where he worked on developing novel robots and sensors for the extreme environments. He is a keen entrepreneur, with experience in spin-outs and start-up and is a co-founder of Mask Logic Ltd. His research areas include healthcare technologies, cyber-physical fabric and soft robotics. He is also enthusiastic about public engagement of all kinds.
